7:00pm: Payment of entry fees.
7:30pm: Round 1.
Saturday October 14
10am to 1pm: Round 2
1pm to 2pm: lunch break
2pm to 5pm: Round 3
5pm to 6pm: dinner break
6pm to 9pm: Round 4
Sunday October 15
10am to 1pm: Round 5
1pm to 2pm: lunch break
2pm to 5pm: Round 6
5pm to 5:15pm: Prize-giving
REGISTRATION: Please email Brendan Jamison at email@example.com by noon on Thursday October 12, 2017. Entries after 12 noon will not be accepted. Entries through other people will not be accepted so please make direct contact with either Brendan Jamison or Mark Newman to ensure your name is entered into the Swiss Master programme for pairing players.
To avoid disrupting the draw, Round 1 byes must be requested no later than by 5pm on Thursday October 12, 2017.
£15 per player if registered before Monday October 9.
£40 per player for non-UCU/non-ICU members registered before Monday October 9. This includes the annual subscription fee of £25 to the Ulster Chess Union which runs from 1st September 2017 to 31 August 2018.
£20 per player if registered after Monday October 9.
£45 per player for non-UCU/non-ICU members. This includes the annual subscription fee of £25 to the Ulster Chess Union which runs from 1st September 2017 to 31 August 2018.
SPECTATORS: Free entry
CHIEF ARBITER: Mark Newman
FORMAT: Swiss format, 6 rounds. Sections to be determined based on entries recieved.
TIME CONTROL: 70 minutes per player with a 30 second increment. Moves must recorded for entire duration of the game.
30 mins. Therefore if a player arrives after 30 minutes has passed on their clock, they will lose the game.
Prize fund to be determined based on number of entrants. List of prizes will be published on Saturday October 14 and displayed in playing venue beside pairing sheets.
TIE BREAKS: For tie-breaks, players will be ranked based on their scores by Median Buchholz, followed if necessary by Buchholz, then most wins and then Progressive Scores.
RULES: FIDE rules will apply. Touchmove will apply. The second illegal move will result in the immediate loss of the game, however, your opponent must announce when the first illegal move has been played and then once again announce the second illegal move has been played before claiming the win, provided the player still has mating material left on the board, otherwise only a draw can be claimed. If play continues, the opponent may not claim the win retrospectively.
